How to Self-Care for Success, Health and Longevity
Ultimate success and happiness in life is obtained by understanding of the self, Atma and its relationship with the greater Self. Some aspects of this phenomenon are described in the website, The Power of Self in a Powerful Mind. Most people born with almost nothing but end up different as they grow up depending upon how well they understand themselves and how well take self-care. It is interesting even the individuals with identical genes and often very similar conditions of upbringing but who experience very different life outcomes. For instant, one twin sister is more self-conscious and suffer from serious depression whereas the other twin sister is self-confident and very successful in life. The fact is that, improving your life and getting success in your lifetime always remain in your hands. Sooner you know yourself and its relationship with ParamAtma better you will be in your life in getting the highest wisdom and happiness. Understanding of time, space, and matter have changed in just the last few years and by knowing these facts you have a capacity to change yourself as shown by the website, Physics, light, and God (click here for other related YouTubes talks).
The famous Danish physicist and Nobel Prize winner, Laureate Niels Bohr (1885-1962), was a follower of the Vedas. He said, “I go into the Upanishads, the ancient scripture of Hinduism, to ask questions.” Both Bohr and Schrödinger, the founders of quantum physics, were avid readers of the Vedic texts and observed that their experiments in quantum physics were consistent with what they had read in the Vedas.
According to Schrödinger, who also won the Nobel Prize, the Vedas teach that we are more than physical bodies operating according to the laws of physics and chemistry. We, the eternal conscious self (Atma), are inherently connected to the greater whole (ParamAtma), and this eternal inherent connection is totally transcendental to matter. All living entities (Atmas), having free will, are able to ignore this connection or recognize it. The Vedas teach us how to do both. When we act as scientists and look for facts and accept them and then go on to use and act according to our new realizations we can make great progress. Similarly, as living entities, we must scientifically study the great work of the evidential books of the Vedas in order to help us realize the facts of this universe and beyond, and our natural position in it.
Upanishads teaches that the ultimate ground of the universe is one with the ground of the thinker himself. For instance Chandogya Upanishad suggested, "tat tvam asi" ('that art thou' or "that is what you are.") expressing the identity of Brahman and the Self (atman).
Vedic literature suggests that there is a single essence (brahman) that underlies all existence and animates all living beings. A person's realization of the identity and unity of atman and brahman is believed to bring about liberation or moksha. When that happens, he or she is freed from all restraints of the mind and body, and thereby transcends all distinctions. Both the Upanishads and later philosophy emphasize the role of jnana or knowledge in the attainment of moksha.
The fact is that, irrespective of east or west, great minds that come in contact with the Vedic texts agree that the ultimate reality remains timeless and changeless, and is contained in the Vedic texts such as the Bhagavad-gita and the Upanishads.
Bhagavad Gita 13.12-17
The soul dwells in every living being, and in every part of every living being; it dwells in the hand and the foot, the skull and the mouth, the eye and the ear. Although it does not itself have senses, it shines through every sense. It is completely independent, yet all beings depend on it.
The soul is both near every living being, and far from every being. The soul is both inside and outside every living being. The soul is the cause of movement, but does not itself move. The soul is one, yet has innumerable forms. The soul creates, preserves, and destroys.
The soul is the light of every light; and its light transcends the duality of brightness and darkness. The soul is the light of knowledge; and its light is also the goal of knowledge. In the soul the subject and object of knowledge are one.

The Ultimate Arthritis Diet
One of the most common questions people with any form of arthritis have is, "Is there an arthritis diet?" Or more to the point, “What can I eat to help my joints?”
The answer, fortunately, is that many foods can help. Following a diet low in processed foods and saturated fat and rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts and beans is great for your body. If this advice looks familiar, it’s because these are the principles of the so-called Mediterranean diet, which is frequently touted for its anti-aging, disease-fighting powers.
Studies confirm eating these foods can do the following:

Can foods I eat affect my asthma symptoms?
There's no asthma diet that will eliminate your symptoms. But your food choices may make your asthma worse or increase your risk of developing asthma. Here's what you can do.
Asthma
There's no asthma diet that will eliminate your symptoms. But your food choices may make your asthma worse or increase your risk of developing asthma. Here's what you can do.
- Take in vitamin D. People with more severe asthma may have low vitamin D levels and replenishing vitamin D may improve asthma. Fish such as salmon, milk and eggs all contain vitamin D. Even spending a few minutes outdoors in the sun can increase vitamin D levels.
- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. They're a good source of antioxidants such as beta carotene and vitamins C and E that may help control lung swelling and irritation (inflammation) caused by cell-damaging chemicals known as free radicals.
- Avoid sulfites. Sulfites can trigger asthma symptoms in some people with moderate to severe asthma. Used as a preservative, sulfites can be found in wine, dried fruits, pickles, fresh and frozen shrimp, and some other foods.
- Avoid allergy-triggering foods. Children with food allergies are likely to have asthma as well. In children with both conditions, the asthma tends to be more severe. In general, allergic food reactions rarely trigger asthma attacks. But a few studies suggest that wheezing accompanies other signs of such reactions more often than previously thought.
- Eat to maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight can worsen asthma. Even losing a little weight can improve your symptoms. Learn how to eat right to maintain a healthy weight over the long term.

Disease prevention
The CDC reports some sobering statistics about Americans:
The good news is that you have the power to help prevent chronic disease, as making positive diet and lifestyle changes can help reduce risk. Eating healthy foods, getting enough exercise, and refraining from tobacco and excessive alcohol use confer numerous health benefits—including possibly preventing the onset of chronic diseases.
Preventing and controlling diseases
Obesity and heart attacks are major public-health problems in the United States and other countries. Therefore, most dietary recommendations are aimed at preventing these two diseases. Obesity comes over time by eating more calories than the body burns. Obesity, in turn, can be a cause of many diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, liver disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, gout, gallstones, and certain cancers.
To lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, it helps to eat more low-energy-dense foods. Low-energy-dense foods (such as vegetables and fruits) contain few calories per unit volume of food so that one can eat a large volume of it (for example, lettuce) without taking in many calories. One should also eat less of the high-energy-dense foods such as fats, egg yolks, fried foods, sweets, and high-fat salad dressings. Foods with a high energy density also often have high cholesterol and saturated fat content. One should also eat less of those foods that provide calories but little other nutrients, such as alcohol and many packaged snack foods.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, published in 2010 by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), contains guidelines for healthy diets based upon review of scientific studies for people above 2 years of age. These guidelines recommend that a healthy diet should:
Disease and Diet
Antioxidants
Coenzyme Q10
Curcumin
Ellagic Acid
Inflammation Prevention
Disease and Mechanism of Inflammation:
The CDC reports some sobering statistics about Americans:
- Chronic diseases - including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer are the leading causes of death and disability.
- 70% of annual deaths are due to chronic diseases.
- These preventable conditions not only compromise quality of life, they add to rising health care costs—75% of our health care dollars are devoted to treat these diseases.
- Among adults ages 20 to 74, diabetes remains the leading cause of kidney failure, blindness, and non-traumatic lower-extremity amputations.

THE DASH DIET
Today’s leading health organizations are heartily endorsing the DASH Diet for the informed health-conscious diner. The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) Diet has been recommended by the National Kidney Foundation and approved by The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, The American Heart Association, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and also forms the basis for the USDA MyPyramid.
Studies on the DASH have demonstrated that the DASH diet helps decrease blood pressure, lowers the risk for heart disease, stroke and cancer, and reduces the risk of kidney stone formation.
The DASH Diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products, whole grains, fish, poultry, beans, seeds, and nuts. It is low in salt and sodium, added sugars and sweets, fat and red meats.

The DASH diet is a recognized treatment for hypertension, heart disease, and kidney disease. The DASH diet can slow the progression of both heart disease and kidney disease. If you already have chronic kidney disease, you should speak with your doctor and dietitian before starting any new diets as you may have special restrictions to consider. The DASH diet should not be used by people on dialysis. Individuals on dialysis have special dietary needs that should be discussed with a registered dietitian.
